Savannah + Tysen Engage

Savannah, Tysen, and I had fun braving the biting bugs on the day of their engagement session at Antelope Island. When I say we braved the bugs I mean we were literally being eaten almost every second. I love couples who just go with the flow and don’t let bad situations ruin their day! Their love radiates and you can definitely see the love they have for each other in their pictures below! Want to know how they got together and engaged? Read Savannah’s story below! I can’t wait for the wedding day this summer!

“Tysen and I get asked all the time how we met! I always get nervous when people ask and I usually say “Tinder…is that terrible?!” and then laugh it off! But there’s a bit more to it. I went home to WA, where I’m from and I was talking to my friend Kylee, who used to live in Layton. I was telling her about this guy who I had been talking to a little bit, but hadn’t gone on a date with and kinda blew him off and quit talking to him. I was way mad at myself because I could tell he was a really nice guy! I showed her his Instagram and she was like “I went to school with his brother before I moved here! You have to go on a date with him! You’re gonna get married!” I wasn’t very convinced I would marry him, but I decided to text him back finally! We had a date set up for when I came back to Utah within like 3 texts back and forth.

I remember sitting at Buffalo Wild Wings with Tysen when I realized how much I actually liked him! I was laughing because he makes me laugh a lot and it just clicked in my head I guess. We had each driven 30-45 minutes to meet each other in Salt Lake and on the drive there I was asking myself “Do I even like this guy? Why am I driving so far to just eat wings with him and go home? Am I wasting my time?” I can tell you I definitely wasn’t wasting my time and I really do like him a lot.
Tysen’s proposal was top notch! I don’t think anybody could ever do something as thoughtful as he did. It was Tysens birthday, March 3. I thought I was showing up to his surprise party. When I went to the front door, my brother walked out with a rose and there was a table that had a sign saying “I know today is my birthday, but instead of making it about me, I want to make todayabout us” or something like that. My brother walked me around the side of the house and there was a path lit up with lights and tiki torches. Along the path his family was lined up, each handing me a flower, even with a video of his brother Daxton who is on a mission. There was also a video of my parents since they live out of state. Also picture the entire yard lit up with candles, lights, cute signs that look like they’re from hobby lobby and several pictures of us, as well as Rose petals and flowers everywhere. It was a dream. On the back porch there was a video of Tysen that I watched with headphones. As I watched it he came up behind me and got down on one knee. When I turned around I said “YES” before he could even ask me to marry him. He had our videographer there who made us a proposal video. Altogether, making family the center of it was so special. Tysen knows how important family is to me and how much I miss my family living so far away. It was so sweet! Tysen is just as thoughtful as his proposal.”
